Keep the WMA format with a WMA-tagging tool, or make an MP3 copy and edit its ID3 tags here.

WMA Metadata Is Not MP3 ID3

For a metadata-only change to a WMA file, use a tool that supports WMA tagging. For an MP3 copy, use the ID3 tag workflow below.

Do not assume that changing an ID3 field updates a WMA file. Use a tool that explicitly documents WMA tagging when that format must be retained.

If An MP3 Copy Fits Your Goal

You can convert a supported WMA file to an MP3 copy, then use the MP3 ID3 workflow. This changes the audio encoding and is not a metadata-only edit.

Keep the WMA original, particularly when it is your best available source.

  1. Convert a supported WMA file using an MP3 preset.
  2. In ID3 Tags, use Choose Audio File to select the resulting MP3.
  3. Update the fields and use DOWNLOAD COPY, then check the -tagged.mp3 file.

Check The Result In Your Player

Different players display different fields and may cache old information. Inspect the actual exported file and reopen it when checking the result.

A title or artist field helps organization; it does not change the recording quality.
